Family seeks help

Gardnerville Ranchos resident Jessica Cook recently underwent her second brain surgery in three weeks to remove a cancerous tumor that had spread from lung cancer. She will begin chemotherapy and radiation after she heals.
Her family — husband, Brian, and three daughters — have no medical insurance and need financial help with medications, surgery and hospitalization, as well as mortgage payments, utilities, groceries, gas and more. They have been told it will be difficult to find a doctor to treat Jessica without insurance.
A fundraiser has been planned from 2 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Lake Tahoe Golf Course, and the community is encouraged to attend. The event will include raffles, prizes, a silent auction and live bands. Businesses and individuals who would like to donate items for the raffle and auction may contact Shelby Moody at (530) 577-7080.
