Billie Duwayne Lovelady

Billie Duwayne Lovelady, also known as Bill, passed away on September 6, 2023, at the age of 88 in Gardnerville, NV. He was born on May 22, 1935, in Topeka, Kansas. Bill was a hardworking and kind-hearted individual, known for his generosity and love for the outdoors.

Bill had a passion for woodworking and was known for his creative craftsmanship. He was also an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting. Bill was a proud member of the Lion’s Club and Carson Valley Clays, where he shared his love for these hobbies with others.

In his early years, Bill served in the Army as an Army Specialist from 1958 to 1960 and continued in the Reserves from 1960 to 1964. He was recognized for his skills as a sharpshooter and rifle marksman. Bill’s military service was an important chapter in his life, and he carried the values of discipline and dedication with him throughout his journey. After his military service, Bill and Rita moved to Nevada. Bill embarked on a successful career at Copeland Lumber and Contel Phone Company, where his skills and work ethic were highly regarded.

Bill will be lovingly remembered by his surviving family members, including his sisters, Gwen and LaVon, his son Mark and Wife, Nadine Lovelady, his daughter Patti and her husband, Bob Shores, his four granddaughters, and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian and Florence Lovelady, his siblings Ken, George, and Beverly, his wife Rita Lovelady, and his grandson Phillip Lovelady.

Bill Lovelady, a loving and proud individual, will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on through his family and the legacy of his kindness, generosity, and his passion for woodworking and the great outdoors.

A Celebration of Life to honor and celebrate Bill’s life will be held on September 23, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Walton’s Funeral Home at 1521 Church Street, Gardnerville, NV. Walton’s Funeral Home and family friend, Tim Johnson have been entrusted with the arrangements and will ensure a respectful and dignified ceremony.
