JOAN JUANITA WILSON

January 19, 1941 - September 18,2023

Joan Juanita Wilson, a longtime resident of Carson City, Nevada, died on September 18, 2023, at the age of 82.

Joan was born January 19, 1941, to John E. and Jessie Juanita (Rodgers) Wilson in Nacogdoches, Texas and grew up in Herlong, California. She attended college in Reno, Nevada, where she earned her associate degree in accounting.

She married Malcolm Earl “Mac” Wilson in 1961, and they raised their four children in Carson City. Joan was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, wife, and mother who loved and cared for her family. She was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary for civil engineers working for the Department of Highways and a volunteer in the community, including Little League. She turned part time jobs into a career as a self-employed legal secretary.

She was a mother to more than her children, providing care and comfort to the children of neighbors, friends, and family. She took in her mother in her waning years and provided a home for family in need. She was an empathetic ear and provided moral support to friends
and neighbors.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Teresa, and her husband, Mac. She is survived by her brother, John, her children Lori, Kari, Timothy, and Malcolm, her grandchildren Jaydon and Macie, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider donating to a charity of your choice.

A private family service will be held at the graveside in Yerington, Nevada. A Celebration of Life will be held in Carson City at a later date.
