The fifth annual Joyful Noise Community Holiday Concert returns to the CVIC Hall in Minden 7 p.m. Dec. 17. The concert offers something for all ages and musical tastes, with holiday treats and hot cider to follow the show. Admission is a love offering for the heart-warming evening of fun for families and friends.
Unity Church of Today hosts the annual event, produced by Lake Tahoe Entertainment for area families, with the UCOT Chorus singing traditional carols and pop Christmas songs. Musical guests "jazz" the tunes. Bob Moscal will perform on his saxophone, playing Christmas classics. The show invites audience participation and includes children. The Christmas conga line will return. John Shipley provides the piano and specially arranged music, while Cherie Shipley emcees and leads the chorus in an evening of holiday music.
The Shipleys are long-time musicians in Northern Nevada and producers with Lake Tahoe Entertainment. John Shipley is again musical director for Tahoe Players annual Christmas show, conducting the musical, "Seussical," in cooperation with Washoe Public Schools and open to the public one day only, Dec. 10 in the Grand Sierra Resort of Reno, reservations required. John also serves as musical director to dozens of Harrah's shows and was founding member of the jazz fusion group Hiroshima. Cherie and John bring a variety of other area performers and musicians each year to freshen these annual holiday extravaganzas.
