Crossfit Carson Valley has added three new trainers to its roster: Nicole Gesselman, Carrie McGill, and Rachael Washington.
All three passed a rigorous Level 1 certification and are now instructing at the gym in Gardnerville.
The three women have been working out with Ron Haskins, owner, and holder of numerous Crossfit training certifications himself, including Level 1, gymnastics, Olympic weightlifting, kids, and movement and mobility certifications.
In April, McGill was crowned co-champion of the local Crossfit affiliate challenge, Fittest of the Sierras. The challenge involved lifting heavy weights, running with a 60-pound sandbag, and numerous other maneuvers for time.
The new trainers said they offer a unique perspective and training style that lends to a fun and sometimes challenging workout regimen.
In addition to the workout program, Crossfit regularly offers nutrition strategies and challenges created to increase the level of awareness of how nutrition plays a role in both fitness and health.
Haskins started CFCV out of his garage, and eventually moved to its current location at 1291 Industrial Court, Suite B, Gardnerville. The club has approximately 40 members, ages 16 through 73, and welcomes new members every month by offering a new member program called "On Ramp," which is held 3-4 days per week for one month at 6:30 p.m. The program ensures that new members can safely use the equipment, including kettle bells, rowing machines, weighted balls, and other exercise equipment that they will use as general members, always under the supervision of a trained instructor.
