The number of Douglas County active voters increased by 667 during the month of October to 40,493, according to figures released by the Nevada Secretary of State’s office.
Nonpartisans enjoyed the largest percentage increase in the count, up 2.45 percent to 8,849. Republicans and Democrats in the county saw an increase of around 1.45 percent, in Douglas, though the 292 new Republicans accounted for nearly 44 percent of the total increase.
Voters may register up until Election Day, which is Tuesday.
Statewide, 48,330 new voters joined the rolls, with nonpartisans accounting for 22,937, or 47 percent of the new total.
According to the state, active nonpartisan voters hit 553,830, passing the total Republicans by 630 new voters. Part of that may be accounted for by those registering through the DMV who failed to indicate a party and were automatically listed as nonpartisan.
Democrats continue to hold a slight lead statewide with 605,540 voters to the Republicans 553,200.
Early in-person voting wraps up today. A ballot box will be available 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at the Election Tent behind the Douglas County Courthouse.
Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at five locations across the county, including the Election Tent, the Douglas County Community & Senior Center, and the Kahle, TRE and Washoe Tribe community centers. Any voters may cast a ballot at any of the locations or drop their paper ballot there.
