North Sails collected half the amount of trash on Oct. 9 than they did during their first clean-up day on Heybourne Road two years ago.
As a company known for creating product that spends a lot of time on open water, they support many partnerships, projects, and advocacies that promote healthier and cleaner oceans and environments.
“We are continuing our commitment to cleaning up our immediate environment around and extended way beyond our two buildings in Minden,” said North Sails General Manager Per Anderson.
North Sails Minden facility received the Green Business Certification from the Nevada Green Business Program and joined the Nevada Green Business Network in February 2020 and have been hosting clean-up days since 2022. The clean-up days are part of a worldwide project within the company to help make a difference in maintaining waste along beaches, water, and the general public.
In 2022, North Sails employees collected 100 bags of trash along Heybourne Road. Last year 60 bags of trash and 25 bags of recyclables was collected, and this year 50 bags of trash and 15 bags of recyclables was collected.
“When we first started this project, we found an enormous amount of trash along the road surrounding the fields,” said Anderson. “Every year we find less and obviously a yearly clean-up is a big part of that.”
