On Thursday, after conducting a public hearing Douglas County commissioners approved $51 million in bonds to build a new courthouse.
The cost of a new judicial center will climb about $3 million a year if economic conditions just remain the same as they have over the past three years, according to county officials.
One of the hottest tickets in town is the Douglas County Citizen’s Law Enforcement Academy which is 1-5 p.m. Sept. 5-8 at the Judicial & Law Enforcement Center, 1038 Buckeye Road, Minden.
A $41 million new judicial center will take just over three years to complete, Douglas County commissioners were told on Thursday.
A $5.39 million transfer from the general fund will pay for the design and pre-construction contracts for a new Douglas County courthouse.
