A man suspected of burglaries in Carson City was arrested very nearly red-handed around an hour after a break-in at a Minden restaurant on Sunday morning.

Sean Andrew Maxwell, 47, was spotted near the Tractor Supply 10 a.m. Sunday by an off-duty deputy.

The deputy was aware that Carson authorities were looking for Maxwell and called for help. After Maxwell came out of the store, deputies took him into custody.

During a search he was found with tire repair supplies and a flashlight stuffed down his pants that apparently came from the store. Deputies also found $429.95 in cash. What Maxwell didn’t have was a receipt for the items.

While he was being booked, the Sheriff’s Office received a report that Cook’d had been broken into and someone had smashed two cash registers and made off with around $830.

Security footage indicated someone wearing clothes similar to Maxwell’s had been in the store earlier that morning. Blood found was found at the scene, and Maxwell had several cuts on his hands.

Maxwell was a former restaurant employee.

He appeared in East Fork Justice Court on Tuesday morning where his bail was set at $10,000 cash or bond. He is scheduled to return to court on Aug. 30, according to court documents.
