Genoa, Nev. — The second power outage in two days hit Minden on Wednesday afternoon affecting 100 customers right around downtown. No cause was ever announced, but it popped back on in around an hour. This time there wasn’t an accompanying fire.

Aerial spraying for mosquitoes today and Friday will focus on western Carson Valley. Expect to see the crop duster buzzing around on the west side this morning.

Nature Conservancy conservation scientist Michael Clifford, Ph.D. will discuss lithium extraction, 6 p.m. today at Whit Hall, 381 Genoa Lane at the River Fork Ranch in Genoa.

Fish Springs and Gardnerville tied for Wednesday’s top wind gusts at 35 mph about three hours apart, according to the National Weather Service. The fire weather warnings seemed to be more about the humidity than the wind.

As of 6:30 a.m. the temperature reading in Genoa was 73 degrees, while at Minden-Tahoe Airport it was 55 degrees.  Suffice to say that for much of Carson Valley it was unusually warm this morning.

The forecast calls for sunny skies and a high temperature near 91 degrees. The 15-20 mph wind will pick up out of the southwest this afternoon and could gust to 35 mph.
