Genoa, Nev. — I count 78 Western Nevada College graduates from Douglas County and the surrounding area, including Smith Valley and Markleeville out of the roughly 500 who are receiving degrees or certificates this week. The college conducted its matriculation in Carson on Monday and is going to Fallon on Thursday.
The flood watch was extended to 8 a.m. today as the East Fork at Horseshoe Bend finally crossed the 14-foot line into minor flood territory. It crested at 14.06 feet at 1:40 a.m. today and has subsided back down to 13.91 feet as of 6 a.m.
It’s forecast to climb back up and tickle minor flood stage at 13.9 feet 6 a.m. Wednesday. The West Fork at Woodfords hasn’t quite matched its crest of 14.04 feet at 9:45 p.m. Friday. It has yet to hit the 14.5-foot moderate flood stage, and doesn’t look like its going to this week, at least.
Willow Bend, the River Fork Ranch, and downstream along the low areas of the main river at wet, with some water encroaching on Genoa Lane’s eastbound lanes this morning. The mainstem below Genoa Lakes is at 15.43 feet this morning.
Library Director Tim DeGhelder’s evaluation is the main agenda item today for the Douglas County Public Library Board of Trustees, who meet 10 a.m. today at the Minden Branch at 1625 Library Lane. The evaluation is part of the public agenda.
The second Minden Farmers Market is 4-8 p.m. today on Esmeralda Avenue in the Douglas County seat.
Mostly sunny skies and a high temperatures of 79 degrees is forecast for today with the wind shifting into the southwest 10-15 mph, gusting to 25 mph.
