A man facing prison on Monday speculated on what it’s like to have to think about never seeing his parents or grandparents ever again because of his own actions.

That feeling haunted Joseph Daniel Rasberry, 33, who was sentenced Monday to 2-8 years in prison.

Rasberry was arrested Jan. 16 with co-defendant Krista Renee Vincent Blanchfield, 39, for possession of 12 ounces of methamphetamine.

During the arrest, Rasberry was driving when the vehicle was pulled over for an issue with a taillight. A background check revealed there was a fugitive warrant out for him from Placer County.

Douglas County K-9 Blaze was brought in to sniff the vehicle and uncovered the drugs, according to a Douglas County Sheriff’s Office social Media post.

According to court documents Rasberry has a history of drug and theft related offenses. He was given credit for 105 days in jail. Blanchfield is subject of a $10,000 warrant after she failed to appear in March.

• A man who spat on deputies was sentenced to an aggregated six years in prison Monday.

Ernesto Adrian Diaz, 43, was arrested Jan. 4 for possession of a stolen vehicle and once he was taken into custody, he spit on two Douglas County Deputies at the Douglas County Jail.

Prosecutor Jim Sibly said Diaz had a history of violence toward officers and resisting arrest with three offenses in 2022.

Diaz was sentenced to 12-30 months for the possession of a stolen vehicle charge with 117 days credit, which is to run consecutive with a 18-48 months for battery by a prisoner in custody charge, plus 90 days in Douglas County Jail for unlawful acts using bodily fluids.

• One of the women involved in a 100 mph chase on Aug. 20, 2023, was sent to prison Monday after violating conditions of probation.

Nicole Angel Rimer, 43, was arrested with co-defendant Tricia Ann-Marie Turria above Bodie Flat after a pursuit that started on Esmeralda Avenue in Minden.

Rimer admitted making a false call to 911 reporting an armed man at Sharkey’s Casino in attempt to stop the police from chasing them.

During sentencing on Dec. 4, Rimer received simultaneous suspended 1-3 year sentences for eluding a police officer and voluntary sexual conduct by a prisoner. She was given credit for 60 days.
