Genoa, Nev. — A blustery Saturday is in the cards with the National Weather Service issuing a high wind warning for Western Nevada between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Wind gusts of 55 mph out of the south are forecast 8-10 a.m. in Minden slowing into the upper 40s until 4 p.m.

There are a lot of events scheduled for Saturday, most of which are indoors, but you might want to check with organizers before heading out.

County commissioners appointed Kirby Mays to the Audit Committee and Tim Gardner to the Airport Advisory Committee. On Wednesday, Minden Town Board members recommended the appointment of Matt Bernard.

A reader sent me a note on Thursday afternoon about the light at Waterloo and 395 only allowing one direction at a time. I observed that myself on Tuesday, but thought it was a glitch. I’ll check in and see if it’s to do with construction.

I expect there will be a little water on Mottsville Lane over the next several mornings. The West Fork crested at 12.51 feet early this morning, which is just over the line to action stage. The East Fork of the Carson River is holding steady at just short of 11.4 feet, no where near the 13-foot action stage.

Cooler weather will slow that down this weekend as the forecast high temperature drops a dozen degrees from 71 today to 59 on Saturday. The west wind will pick up to 5-10 mph this afternoon and just keep going tonight. Sunday the high is forecast to be 50 with the low dropping to 28.
