Reward offered for missing goggles

Douglas County Secret Witness is offering up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of persons responsible for the loss of thousands of dollars of military-type equipment from a company that trains security personnel for high-risk duty in Iraq.

Sgt. Tom Mezzetta said 10 pairs of night vision goggles, military flashlights, bulletproof vests, a scope and a laptop computer were reported missing March 3 from SOC-SMG Inc., a Minden-based security company.

Mezzetta said the goggles alone were worth $41,750.

He said the embezzlement, which occurred March 3, is under investigation.

SOC-SMG, Inc., is a military veteran-owned security company whose international operations are headquartered in Minden. Many employees have a military or law enforcement background.

Clients range from Nike Inc. to the Department of Defense.

Anyone with information about the missing items is asked to contact Secret Witness, 782-7463, 586-7295 or Investigator Ron Elges, 782-9907. Payment will be made in any matter the caller prefers. Anonymity is assured.
