Man held in DUI, burglary charge

Staff Reports

A Minden man is facing multiple counts of burglary and home invasion after he was arrested for burglary and larceny on Christmas Day.

Michael Keith Dawson, 33, was arrested at a Becky Lane address Christmas night after the woman who lives at the home called 911 to report he was trying to break into the house.

Deputies took Dawson, who was allegedly intoxicated, into custody at gunpoint.

When they arrived at the jail and tried to get a blood sample from Dawson, he refused to the point where he was Tasered into compliance.

Dawson appeared in court on Wednesday on a prior matter in which he allegedly broke into his ex-wife's house on Sept. 30 and took $10 in quarters and drank two bottles of wine.

Attorney Tod Young told Justice Jim EnEarl that his client would waive his preliminary hearing and plans to plead guilty to attempted burglary in district court. Young said Dawson would enter into some sort of treatment program as part of the plea agreement.
