Resident wins national Ultimate Bodyshaping Course contest

Longtime Carson Valley resident Inge Costa has been named the newest National Ultimate Bodyshaping Course champion. Costa participated in the Ultimate Bodyshaping Course offered through Northwest Martial Arts, losing 20 pounds and more than 6 percent body fat in just 10 weeks.

Costa said she started the course as an, "overweight, out-of-shape working mom" who now can't wait to ski, bike, hike and swim. She beat out close to 100 other people who had entered the contest around the nation.

"The first evaluation was a real eye opener for me," said Costa. "My body fat was terrible and I was completely out of shape."

By the second evaluation she said she saw, "major results in both the way I felt and the way I looked."

By the third evaluation, at the end of the course, she had more than doubled her pushups, almost doubled her sit-ups and decreased her time in the mile-and-a-half run by almost five minutes.

"UBC has changed my life," Costa said. "My attitude about myself and what I can accomplish is forever changed."

Costa is the second National UBC Champion that Northwest Martial Arts has produced. Among the facilities nationwide that offer the UBC program, Northwest Martial Arts is one of only three facilities to ever produce multiple national champions.
