Station 7 BBQ Saturday night

Grab your dancing shoes and bring your appetite; the volunteer firefighters at Station 7 in the Ranchos are putting on their annual barbecue and dance tomorrow evening and everyone is invited.

Now in its 25th year, this fundraiser is a favorite of longtime residents and newcomers alike. The good times start at 4 p.m. and last until around midnight.

Dinner is served from 4-8 p.m. This year's menu features barbecued pork, chicken and sausages, along with hot dogs for the kids. American Barbecue does all the cooking, and Chief Bob Spellberg says they do "an excellent job."

In addition, a variety of salads and sides will be available. Model Dairy is donating ice cream for dessert.

Spellberg says there will be plenty of food so, "If you're still hungry, you can always come back for more!"

Beer, wine and soft drinks will also be available for purchase.

Tickets for the dinner are $8 for adults and $4 for children 10 and younger. Everyone who purchases a dinner ticket is eligible to win the grand prize, a barbecue donated by Western Nevada Supply.

Music starts around 6 p.m. and will feature a live band with classic rock style. Dancing is sure to follow.

Throughout the evening, attendees can bid on auction items and buy tickets for the raffle for $1. Raffle prizes include great items such as gift certificates to the Carson Valley Inn, a CD player and items from Auto Parts Depot.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to see the firehouse's 100-foot ladder truck up close.

All the funds raised go toward the purchase of special equipment and tools for the station. Head on over to 940 Mitch Drive tomorrow night, July 15 for the fun and festivities, and help support our local fire station.

Station 7 is always looking for more volunteers to staff the firehouse. Volunteers need to possess courage and assertiveness, a desire to help others, and the time necessary to attend trainings, meetings and emergency calls. For more information, you can reach Chief Bob Spellberg at 265-2048.
