Guten Tag mein Herren und Damen,

Try as they might, Minden residents have been unable to limit their 100th birthday celebration to a single day. At 9 a.m. today, Horst and Jorg Schumacher will bring congratulations from Minden/Westfalen Mayor Michael Buhre in recognition of the town's celebration. Kaffe und kuchen will be served.

Horst and Jorg were treated to some good-old fasioned Gardnerville fare last night at the J.T.

The celebration continues on Saturday when Marsha's Park is dedicated.

The main event is Sunday with a picnic and a parade. Hap Fisher tells us the roads around Minden Park will be closed to traffic, so plan accordingly.

Today's weather will be mostly sunny with about a 10 percent chance of precipitation. The high temperature is supposed to be 89 degrees. It's hazy out, but a lot of that is evaporating moisture from Wednesday's cloudburst. R-C Weather Watcher Stan Kapler reports .28 inches of rain fell in Minden. Most of that over 15 minutes around 6 p.m.

This morning there are no reports of additional fires.
