Horsemanship clinic offered this week

The Eighth Annual Roy Yates Horsemanship Clinic is coming this week to the Amacker Ranch, 975 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville.

"An Evening with Roy Yates" is scheduled for Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Amacker Ranch. Yates will give a demonstration of his program and be available for questions and answers. The clinic will follow on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Yate's offers a foundation-based program designed after the teachings of such great horsemen as Baucher, Fillis, Podhaiski and Charles O. Williamson. This no-gimmick horsemanship program will help all riders achieve a better understanding of how to have a calmer, smoother horse whether they are interested in western, pleasure, English, trail, reining or other events.

Yates has trained many register-of-merit and superior horses in events such as reining, western and English pleasure, hunter over fences, working cow horse and cutting, and has students from every state in the U.S., numerous provinces in Canada and other countries including Australia, Austria, Mexico, Germany and France. Yates has also published articles in Western Horseman, Quarter Horse Journal, Reiner and others.

The cost for Thursday's "An Evening with Roy Yates" is $15 per person. The fee for the clinic on Friday, Saturday and Sunday is $125 per session, with the possibility of two sessons per day. For further information, call Robin Eppard at 265-5074.
