Al Blythe

1925-2007


A rosary will be said 6 p.m. Thursday with a celebration of life service 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Gall Catholic Church, 1343 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville for Al Blythe, 82, who died July 31, 2007, at his Gardnerville home.

Mr. Blythe was born March 25, 1925, in Detroit, Mich., to Arley and Carrie Lena Blythe. He served in the U.S. Navy. He received his bachelor of science degree from Wayne State University and spent his career as a human resource manager. He married Ginger (Elliot) Blythe, May 24, 1975, in Webster, Texas. They previously lived in Bishop, Calif., before moving to Gardnerville seven years ago. Mr. Blythe belonged to several numismatic organizations, was a member of the St. Gall Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed numismatics, photography, hiking and blackjack.

He is survived by his wife Ginger Blythe of Gardnerville; sons and daughters-in-law Bruce and Lynn Blythe of Phoenix, Brian Blythe of Orange, Calif., Gary and Sondra Blythe of Phoenix, stepchildren Joe and Margaret Mandry of Riverside, Calif., Sherri and Don Gober of Dallas and Paul and Sandi Mandry of Yorba Linda, Calif.; daughters and sons-in-law Gale and Blaze Bruney of Orange, Calif., Cynthe and Dave Renfrew of Hesperia, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Dex Zerby of Detroit; eight grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren.


Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville. Cremation is to take place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City. The family requests memorial donations be made to Skin Cancer Awareness Foundation, 2685 Billy's Road, Minden, NV 89423.
