David Scott Killen, 22, appeared in East Fork Justice Court this morning where Justice of the Peace Jim EnEarl appointed defense attorney Derrick Lopez to represent him.

Killen faces a charge of discharging a firearm where it could harm another person and willful injury to property.

Killen remains in Douglas County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.

Planning commissioners approved a special use permit to allow a memorial garden and a 4,000-square-foot meeting hall for the Knights of Columbus on Tuesday.

The Knights plan to build the meeting hall next door to St. Gall Catholic Church on Centerville.

The request must go to Douglas County commissioners before the Knights can proceed.

Harvard Medical School and UNLV are conducting a gambling study and want to contact people from rural Nevada. the study is seeking research subjects who are concerned about their gambling.
