Hugo Bracci


1924-2007


Hugo Bracci, 83, an 11-year resident of Wellington, died Feb. 16, 2007, in Gardnerville. He was born Jan. 18, 1924, in Lucca, Italy, to Alceste Bracci and Irene Lena.


He married Phyllis Valentine on Oct. 3, 1946, in Reno.


Mr. Bracci lived in Los Angeles before moving to Nevada.


He attended John Marshall High School in Los Angeles and Santa Ana College where he played football and ran track.


He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1942-46. Mr. Bracci worked as a master plaster caster, and belonged to the San Onofre Surfing Club.


Mr. Bracci was preceded in death by his brother Naldo Bracci on Jan. 8, 2005, in Los Angeles.


Among his survivors are his wife Phyllis of Wellington; children Loren Bracci of Valencia, Calif., Dana Bracci of Los Angeles and Anna Bailey of Wellington; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.


Walton's Sierra Crematory is in charge of cremation. Walton's Douglas County Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.




Donald Benjamin (Chips) Briggs


1907-2007


A private family graveside service will be June 19 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greensboro, N.C. for Donald Benjamin (Chips) Briggs, 99, who died Feb. 13, 2007, in Gardnerville.


Mr. Briggs was born June 19, 1907, in Michigan to Herbert B. and Anna L. Felker Briggs. He received an eighth-grade education. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and retired as a lieutenant in 1946. He married Essie Dalton in 1942 in Samoa. He and his wife lived at Zephyr Heights, Lake Tahoe, for 50 years and he lived in Gardnerville for the last six years. He was a Mason.


He was preceded in death by his wife Essie of Zephyr Heights. He is survived by his friend Patricia Williams of Gardnerville; his brother John Briggs of Burt, Mich., and numerous nieces and nephews.


Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Douglas County Mortuary. Cremation will take place at Walton's Sierra Crematory in Carson City.




Tomas 'Thomas' Felan


1941-2007


Tomas "Thomas" Felan, 65, a five year resident of Coleville/Walker, died in Gardnerville Feb. 11, 2007.


Mr. Felan was born Dec. 21, 1941 in San Antonio, Texas to Isidro P. and Susana Longoria Felan. He was a graduate of Brackenridge High School and took an auto mechanic course. He served in the U.S. Army and worked as a carpenter in the construction industry. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working on cars.


He was preceded in death by his father Dec. 12, 1984, and his mother June 7, 1985. He is survived by his sisters Olga F. Clark, of Little Rock, Ark.; Margarita F. Jacobo of San Antonio, Texas; Virginia Sanchez of Little Rock, Ark.; three brothers Isidro L. Felan of San Diego, Calif.; Ricardo L. Felan of San Antonio, Texas and Alfredo L. Felan of Houston, Texas as well as numerous nieces, nephews and two great nieces.


Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Douglas County Mortuary. Cremation will take place at Walton's Sierra Crematory in Carson City with inurnment at Northern Nevada Veteran's Memorial in Fernley.




Ira J. Moore Jr.


1943-2007


Memorial services will be planned for a later date at Lake Tahoe for long time Zephyr Cove resident Ira J. Moore Jr., 63, who died Feb. 11, 2007, in Zephyr Cove.


Mr. Moore was born July 17, 1943, in Corsicana, Texas, to Ira J. Moore Sr. and Dorothy Jo Hopf. He graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He became a dealer at Harrah's Casino in South Lake Tahoe after completing an eight-year tour on the Princess Cruise Lines. His hobbies were the earth and all of its creatures, especially our winged friends. He hoped for world peace and lived a simple life.


He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Moore in El Cajon, Calif., in 2006. He is survived by his father, Ira J. Moore Sr. and his sister Judy and her husband Doug Paulson, all of El Cajon, Calif.; his brother Don and his wife Shirley Moore of Sandpoint, Idaho, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, their families, many friends and co-workers.


Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Douglas County Mortuary. Cremation will take place at Walton's Sierra Crematory.
