Antique Tractor show coming to north Valley

Staff Reports

The 12th annual Antique Tractor Show will be held Saturday and Aug. 18 and 19 at Stephanie Way and Heybourne Road north of Minden. Look for signs on Highway 395 between Carson City and Minden. Events include tractor parades, tractor pulls, static engine displays, raffle of a John Deere Model M tractor, vendors selling tractor and engine parts, T-shirts, caps, calendars and more. Admission for adults is $5, children 12 and younger are free.

This year's show is sponsored by the Northern Nevada Antique Power Club, a regional farm tractor and engine club organized seven years ago by local enthusiasts who wanted to preserve and restore early farm tractors, machinery and gas engines. The club has grown from 12 original members to more than 150 people in western Nevada and eastern California

Started 12 years ago by Bill and Doreen Ramsden, it was first designed as a community event for friends and neighbors. Now it's attended by hundreds of farm enthusiasts and families from Nevada and surrounding states. Ramsdens' ranch is especially suited to the event, with many pieces of "Bill's Collectible Iron" on display.

"This show is for all ages," said event coordinator Wendell Newman. "We welcome everyone who has an interest in these wonderful old farm and ranch antiques."
