The R-C Morning Report

Snow levels will drop to 5,000 feet by Wednesday morning as this cold front passes through Western Nevada bringing high temperatures down to the 60s and lows down to just above freezing on Wednesday night. It's this early June cool-off that is why its best to wait to plant tomatoes here. There's a chance of moisture between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. and the slightest chance of snow flurries at daybreak on Wednesday. The wind is howling this morning as the front charges in. There's a line of squalls in Portola early this morning and some of the northern half of the storm has made it over the Sierra crest.

Oh, and there's a high wind warning through Washoe Valley.

The town boards of Gardnerville and Genoa meet tonight. Both towns have full agendas. Gardnerville meets at 4:30 p.m. in the town offices on Highway 395. Genoa meets at 7 p.m. in the town meeting room next to the Genoa Town Hall.

All the fires from Friday's lightning storm appear to be safely extinguished and nothing new blew up during Monday's red flag warning. Some lightning is predicted south east of a line between Markleeville and Fallon, so that could do some damage, but hopefully cooler temperatures and some moisture will help tamp that down for a bit.
