Art events offered during Magiko

Barbara Flanagan, owner of Cottonwood Creek Farms Bed and Breakfast, will host two free art events as a part of the Carson Valley Magiko celebrations.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, three local artists, Teri Sweeney, Arlene Origoni and Ray Freeman, will demonstrate the art of painting outdoors using plein air techniques as they create pictures in the beautiful gardens surrounding Flanagan's bed and breakfast. The public is invited and refreshments will be served.

The following Saturday, June 30 at 1 p.m. there will be a free water color pencils demonstration at Cottonwood Creek Farms location.

Internationally known artist, Reiko Hervin, will demonstrate an exciting new art technique. The artist works with simple-to-manage colored pencils and then with the addition of water, voila, a watercolor painting appears. Hervin's watercolor pencils demonstration is free at 1 p.m. and open to the public.

A mini workshop will follow with a $10 material fee for those that are interested in learning this art form. All materials are provided. The public is invited and refreshments will be served.
