Arts Council presents Argenta Trio

In the tradition of their free concert series, the Carson Valley Arts Council presents the Argenta Trio in concert on April 7 at 6 p.m. in the CVIC Hall in Minden.

This is the fourth in a series of concerts to promote the purchase and rehabilitation of the Copeland Lumber building in Minden for the use of a Carson Valley Performing Arts Center. A $500,000 down payment is needed to get the ball rolling on this multi-million dollar project.

"At the last concert, donations at the door exceeded $1,400," said CVAC President Brian Fitzgerald."

Architect Ralph Eissmann has challenged the CVAC to come up with $3,000, which he will match.

"We're almost half-way there," said Fitzgerald, who is planning two more concerts after this.

"The Argenta Trio is a classical ensemble comprised of critically acclaimed faculty musicians from the University of Nevada, Reno," said Fitzgerald.

The trio features violinist Phillip Ruder, cellist John Lenz and pianist James Winn. They will be performing a selection from Ludwig van Beethoven. After a brief intermission, the trio will perform a selection from Johannes Brahms.

The Tahoe Ridge Winery & Marketplace continues to partner with the CVAC and will provide free wine and appetizers. Desserts will be served at 9 p.m. by Sweetie Pies by Wendy.

"The arts council invites interested participants to come and enjoy music and hear the latest news about the proposed performing arts center," said Fitzgerald. "This is a series of events to bring awareness to the arts council and its efforts to create a home for the arts in Carson Valley."
