Golf tournament benefits Family Support Council

The Family Support Council of Douglas County is hosting a pajama-attired golf tournament to raise funds for domestic violence prevention. The event, called Be Seen on the Green, will take place on June 23 at the Carson Valley Golf Course and will include nine holes of golf, a barbecue dinner and raffle prizes from local businesses.

"This is really a lighthearted and entertaining type of tournament" said Family Support Council board member Jessica Jensen. "Pajamas are required, golf shoes are OK, and foursomes are encouraged to be creative. Goldilocks and the Three Bears? Cowboys and Indians? Or just your most comfy PJs.

The Family Support Council relies on fundraising activities to generate funds for crisis intervention in domestic and sexual assault cases, court and hospital advocacy for survivors, as well as women's support groups and parenting classes for the community at large.

The event will take place June 23: Registration is at 2 p.m., shotgun start at 3 p.m. and this will be "Scramble" format. A barbecue dinner at the Country Club Restaurant will be served from 6-8 p.m.

The cost is $75 per person. If you would like to join us for dinner only, the cost is $25. In addition, hole sponsorships are available for $100. For more information, please contact Family Support Council at 782-8692.
