Bench warrant issued for trafficker

Bail was set at $10,000 cash for a South Lake Tahoe man who failed to appear for sentencing Tuesday on a drug trafficking charge.

Luis E. Moya-Jimenez, 19, faces up to 15 years in prison and a $100,000 fine. He pleaded guilty to supplying cocaine to three area teenagers on two occasions.

The defendant's lawyer, Erik Johnson of Carson City, said he last spoke to his client following an April 3 arraignment during the preparation of a pre-sentence report prepared by the state parole and probation department.

In a plea agreement with the District Attorney's office - which may be voided by Jimenez's failure to appear - the state agreed to recommend a maximum of five years in prison.

Jimenez, who was jailed on $110,000 bail after his arrest, was released on his own recognizance March 7 by Tahoe Township Justice Richard Glasson, according to court records.
