The Gardnerville council of the Knights of Columbus is dedicating tonight's bingo night to the Kids & Horses Therapeutic Riding Center, a non-profit organization in Carson Valley that provides a bridge leading to a life of freedom and self-fulfillment for children and adults with physical and/or emotional disabilities. Founded in April 1999, this program offers horsemanship as a means of therapy that improves strength, balance, coordination and self-esteem. More than a riding program, Kids & Horses is a philosophy that is based on the concept that every human being, regardless of their disabilities, can benefit from an equine relationship.
The Knights of Columbus hosts Knights Bingo Nights on the second and fourth Fridays of each month at the St. Gall Pastoral Center, 1343 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. These events, which are open to everyone over the age of 21, provide funds to support various community projects and other public needs.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and play starts at 7 p.m. Players purchase a $20 game pack that includes a 3-card warm-up, 10 games, one raffle ticket and one progressive blackout game card. Additional blackout game cards can be purchased separately. The progressive blackout pays a minimum of $500 if a bingo is reached within a specific number of calls. A big bonus progressive blackout has been added to Bingo Knights which pays $1,199. Food and drinks will be available for purchase starting at 6 p.m.. Knights volunteers will also provide free popcorn, coffee and table snacks during the evening.
