Soroptimist International of Carson Valley is selling cookbooks in time for the holiday season. The cookbook, "Great Recipes from Soroptimist International Carson Valley" cookbook is available for $15 through Christmas at Artisans International Gallery, Café Bella Vita, Carson Valley Inn Gift Shop, Sweetie Pies and Tumblewind Antiques. All proceeds from the sale of the cookbooks will be given to the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center as part of the club's long-term project.
A sample recipe from Linda Leiss, Soroptimist club member, is included in time for the holidays.
Hot Buttered Rum Mix
3Ú4 pound butter (softened)
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 quart vanilla ice cream (softened)
1 box brown sugar
1 tablespoon nutmeg
1 box powdered sugar
With a mixer, cream butter with brown sugar and spices.
Add ice cream to blend, alternating with powdered sugar and blend until smooth.
Use about 2 tablespoons of the mix per cup of hot water, add some rum and enjoy.
Mix should be stored in the freezer so ice cream does not melt.
