Carson Valley poker run nets $3,500 for Austin's House

Editor:

Aug. 19 was the first annual Austin's House Carson Valley Children's Center Poker Run. After a fun-filled sunny day of riding, more than $3,500 was raised by the event, which was a motorcycle or car ride to Genoa, Markleeville, Topaz, Gardnerville and Carson City.

Once again we are amazed at the generosity and enthusiasm of people and businesses in our local area. Just an example of generosity, the winner of the Poker Run cash prize re-donated her pot of money back to Austin's House.

Organizer Dominic Lombardo and I would especially like to thank the following individuals and businesses for their generous contributions which ultimately benefit children in our community:

Maddox LLC, Sierra Closets, Nancy Milligan Appraisers, J.T. Basque Bar & Dining Room, Carson Valley Transmission, Woodford's Station, Pro-Lo Carpets, Galaxie Theaters, Carson Valley Inn, ABE Printing, Grafx 8 Media Group, 20-30 Club, Genoa Bar, Wolf Creek Inn, Iggy and Squiggy's Junction Bar, Full Belly Deli, Ed's Doghouse Sports Lounge, Baker Brothers Swine, Jethro's, Meeks Lumber in Gardnerville, Kragen Auto Supply, Paugho Frames, Napa Auto Parts Gardnerville, Hamdogs, Scottsdale Plumbing, Home Depot, The Deli Co., Backroads Bar and Grill and owner brokers and agents of Century 21 Clark Properties.

The calls and letters are still coming in about how much fun everyone had at this event. Keep your eye out for next year's event which promises to be much bigger and better.

Danny Villalobos,

co-organizer Austin's House Poker Run, Gardnerville
