Food donations keep coming

Sporting two holidays and the beginning of spring, March was a busy month for donations at the Carson Valley Community Food Closet. We appreciate the community's generosity and support.


The following donations were received for March (pounds): Mike Smith (184), Students Taking On Prevention movie night (85), St. Gall religious education group (527), St. Gall Catholic Church (410), Tahoe Community Church (130), Shepard of the Sierra Lutheran (14), R.L. Hummer Sr. (212), Douglas County Public Library (39), Ralston Purina Ð Cereal (2,840), Curves, Gardnerville (400), Carson Valley Kiwanis (36), Darnell Leegard (14), Robin's Little Ranch Ð pet food (202), Critter Junction Ð pet food (82), Dragon Dental - dental items (3) and Gold Standard - rug cleaning.


Regular grocery contributors: Raley's, Scolari's, Smith's, Costco, Starbucks in Minden and Gardnerville, Pony Espresso, Russell's Mercantile, Trader Joe's and Shell Station Country Market.


Cash donations received: J. Fauria, B. Middendorf and B. Fettic, J. Williams, R. Sidney, Oxoby Mobile Homes, Merrill Construction, Bank of America Ð United Way, Smith's Neighbor to Neighbor, Family Support Council, St. Gall Catholic Church, Coventry Cross Episcopal Church, customers and employees at Scolari's, Smith's and Raley's markets and anonymous.


The food closet accepts cash donations, canned food items, toiletries, diapers and paper goods. If you would like to contribute to this worthwhile cause, stop by the Carson Valley Community Food Closet at 1255 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville on Monday through Wednesday and Friday from 1-4 p.m. For information contact Eileen Boettiger, director at 782-3711.
