DAWG adoption


Douglas Animal Welfare Group's dog adoption event is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Petco in Carson Valley Plaza. DAWG offers eligiblity for free spaying or neutering for adopted dogs, free microchips, a $75 reimbursement for obedience training, training DVD and coupons. St. Gall High Tea


The St. Gall Women's Society's Best of Yesterday High Tea is 2 p.m. Saturday, in the St. Gall Pastoral Center, 1343 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville.


The Best of Yesterday High Tea is the main fundraiser for the St. Gall Women's Society. Tickets are $25 and are on sale at Saturday Mass and during the week in the church office. Tickets, Leslie Solt, 265-5719.




Driver safety class offered Saturday


Learn defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws, rules of the road in the AARP driving program, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Merrill Gardens Community Center, 1565-A Virginia Ranch Road, Gardnerville. Refreshments and lunch provided. Cost $10 per person. Information at 782-3100.




Orchestra presents spring concert


The Carson Valley Pops Orchestra presents a spring concert, 4 p.m. April 20, at the Carson Valley Christian Center, 1095 Stephanie Way, Minden. Under the direction of Danny Yale and Aaron Pellegrini, the free concert features Strauss waltzes, Broadway melodies and classical favorites. Raffle and refreshments available. Sertoma Chili Cookoff April 26-27


The 16th annual Carson Valley Sertoma Chili Cookoff & Craft Fair is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 26 and 27 Carson Valley Inn between the gas station and casino. Free admission and 70 crafters and 50 competition cooks. Food, beverages, live music, contests. Information, 265-5463.




Valley Cruisers Rummage Sale

The Valley Cruisers Car Club Embezzlement Reimbursement Car Parts and Rummage Sale is 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 26 at WT Cool Cars, 2480 Precision Way, Unit K, in the Johnson Lane area.


Booth space is available for $20, and the club is accepting donations for sale. Club donations support the Carson Valley Community Food Closet, Family Support Council, Douglas County Senior Center, Project Santa Claus, City of Refuge, Douglas County Sheriff's Search and Rescue and Douglas High School.
