New publisher takes over at R-C

Charlie Pankey is the new publisher of The Record-Courier in Gardnerville.

The announcement was made today by Sierra Nevada Media Group General Manager Scott McElhaney. The Record-Courier is a Sierra Nevada Media Group newspaper.

Pankey, 38, is currently Sierra Nevada Media Group's regional sales director, and will continue in that role in addition to his responsibilities at the Record-Courier.

"Charlie brings both enthusiasm and a passion for the community," McElhaney said, noting that Pankey already is a Douglas County resident. "His extensive experience with community newspapers and knowledge of the area will serve the readers and advertisers of The Record-Courier well."

Pankey will replace Publisher Don Rogers who took a position as associate publisher of his former newspaper the Vail Daily.

Rogers announced his departure on Friday.
