Shawn Estes, P, San Diego Padres: Estes, in the middle of a minor league rehab assignment, was sent to Triple-A Portland last week. He is expected to make three starts for the Beavers before coming off the disabled list. He has been recovering from a broken thumb on his throwing hand suffered in June.

Jeff Nady, fr., OL, Nevada: Season opens Saturday vs. Grambling State.

Billy Coats, fr., LS, Navy: Redshirting at U.S. Naval Academy Preparatory School.

Jake Peterson, sr., LB, Pennsylvania: Season opens Sept. 20 vs. Villanova.

Brent Koontz, Rfr., LB, Southern Oregon: Season opens Aug. 28 at Montana Tech.

Brock Peterson, fr., RB, Linfield: Season opens Sept. 13 at Hardin-Simmons.

James Lanier, fr., FB, Mendocino College: Season opens Sept. 6 at Hartnell.

Morgan LeFever, fr., M, Academy of Arts: Season opens Saturday at Chico State.

LeFever has been selected as one of the team's three captains for the first-year program.

Lisa Christen, fr., D, American River: Season opens today at Foothill.

Samantha Ensminger, fr., D, American River: Season opens today at Foothill.
