The R-C Morning Report

A Reno woman who allegedly walked up on a deputy as he had his weapon trained on her after trying to elude him is scheduled to be arraigned in Douglas County District Court this morning. Brita Class, 25, is accused of fourth DUI and speeding away after a deputy pulled her over. He pursued her into a Gardnerville cul de sac, where the deputy drew his weapon and ordered her and her passenger out of the car. According to the sheriff's report, Class refused to get down on the ground and walked up to the deputy, who rushed her.

Monday passed without a challenge by any Douglas County resident to the field of candidates who signed up in May. However, the question of what happens with those whom the Secretary of State has challenged remains.

While there's only a slight chance of thundershowers today, I would still recommend those of you working on computer save often. The winds will be up 15-20 mph with gusts of up to 35 mph, and that can be just as tough on the power grid as lightning.

Today kicks off meeting week with Gardnerville and Genoa. Gardnerville starts at 4:30 p.m. and has a big agenda, including a mixed-use commercial project next to Heritage Park. The project will include 58 single family homes and 35,000 square feet of commercial space. Genoans meet at 7 p.m. and will continue working on issues related to Candy Dance.
