Galleries' Second Saturday events

Concert benefit Saturday

Singer/songwriter Vanessa Littrell of the band Living Picture Show will perform a concert of piano and guitar music, 7-8:15 p.m. Saturday, at Sierra Crest Academy, 1701 Lucerne St. in Minden. A $10 donation requested as this is a benefit for Unity Church of Today. Refreshments available for purchase at the concert. Information, 782-4429.


Mothers' breakfast at museum

The Carson Valley Lions Club's annual Mother's Day breakfast 8-11 a.m. Sunday at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville. A breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage and all-you-can-eat pancakes is $6 per person, and $3 for children 12 and younger. Proceeds benefit the museum.


Show and swap meet May 17

The Valley Cruisers Car Club and the Town of Gardnerville host the '50s Rockathon Car Show and Swap Meet, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 17, at Heritage Park.

Street rods, classics, muscle cars, sports cars, kit cars, low riders and trucks welcome for a $10 entry fee. Awards will be presented. Hot dogs available for sale.

Genoa barn tour tickets available

The Douglas County Historical Society's Historic Emigrant Trail Barn Tour is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 24. The six barns on the tour, including the Van Sickle and Jubilee barns, are some of the first built in Nevada.

Ticket price of $25 per person includes the tour, barbecue lunch provided by the Douglas County Farm Bureau, living history performances and free admission to the Genoa Court House Museum and the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center. Information, 782-2555.


Home and garden tickets on sale

The Genoa Home and Garden Tour is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 1. Event benefits Carson Valley Pops Orchestra. Tickets, $12. Information at genoaevents.com or 782-4951.
