If you had a flyer stuck in your door by Nevadans Against the Tax Grab then you have received the most misleading, most underhanded, and most deceptive piece of trash ever distributed by the gambling industry.

The group is, in fact, a political action committee fully owned and operated by the Nevada Resort Association (the casinos) and headed by the (in)famous William Bible.

After all the usual lying garbage in the flyer, NATG urges you not to sign the "teacher's union Tax Grab Amendment."

Which is OK if you want the casinos to keep netting $1 billion per month and not paying their fair share during a time of severe fiscal crisis in Nevada.

Remember the casinos give away tens of millions in comps every month but when it comes to educating our children and grandchildren they turn to deception and trickery instead of being responsible corporate citizens.

If you want the casinos to be responsible citizens of Nevada then don't sign any petition by Nevadans against the tax grab.

Let's keep the money that has been to Macao and other countries here in Nevada. Answer the NATG's lies with supporting the tax increase on casinos.

I am writing because I can't tolerate the waste I see every day any more.

I think 8-10 hours of watering a small lawn every day is way over the limit of excessive. How can this be allowed?

I know Reno, Carson and even Minden have rules on when and how long to water. I live in Gardnerville and I believe that we too should adhere to the "rules."

When I water, it's 20 minutes per side, and that's plenty.

I know the vast majority of us are trying to reduce the resources we use, and that's a good thing.

To all of you who love our planet, keep doing what your doing.

Everyone knows that police officers, firefighters, and members of the military are all heroes.

But we seem to forget that our local medical professionals are every bit as much heroes too. We just complain about the high cost of health care, but it's wrong to put the blame on the people that spend their lives saving ours.

My wife works at the Carson Valley Medical Center here in Gardnerville. She works in one of the many departments, but is not a medical person. A few weeks ago, she had a sudden-death heart attack, the kind we're told no one survives.

But because she was at work, at a hospital, she was in the right place at the right time. Still, it is truly only because of the fast work of the excellent staff, at both her office and the ER, that she is alive. There are too many names to list, and some we don't even know that were involved.

So I hope that everyone at CVMC will read this, and know that we thank you all for saving my wife's life. We have a great hospital, with a wonderful group of people that are dedicated and really good at what they do, and we need to appreciate them more. Because when you need someone to save your life, I hope you get people of this caliber to help you.

With our highest regards to Carson Valley Medical Center
