A celebration of the life is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Carson Valley United Methodist Church for longtime Gardnerville resident Irmgard A. Mortensen, 85, who died April 21, 2009.
Born April 28, 1923, she lived in Gardnerville for more than 30 years. A volunteer at the Douglas County Senior Center, she was also a member of the German Club and a Carson Valley Christian Center children worker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joy 'Mort' Mortensen.
She is survived by daughters Karoline Myers of Markleeville, Anneliese Sutton of San Antonio, Texas, and Candace Weissinger of Gardnerville; son Martin Mortensen of Reno; sisters Elfrieda Nelson and Ilse Burris of Southern California; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The church is located at 1375 Centerville Lane in Gardnerville. Donations in Mrs. Mortensen's name may be made to Saint Jude's Children Hospital or Wounded Warrior.
