Baseball: Express edges Aces 10-7

Brandon Allen was one of four Aces with a multi-hit effort Saturday night, but Reno dropped a 10-7 decision to the Round Rock Express in the second game of the series at Aces Ballpark.

The Aces fell behind early and mustered several comeback bids, but the Express had too much offense in the end. Reno fell behind 4-0 after two innings, but scored three runs in the third to keep it close. A John Hester RBI-single and bases-loaded walks by Cole Gillespie and Abraham Nunez put Reno on the board, but Round Rock answered with a four-run sixth to blow the game open. The Aces rallied again in the seventh, but couldn't complete the comeback as Round Rock evened this four-game set at one game apiece.

Travis Blackley (2-7) started and took the loss for Reno, giving up five earned runs in five innings of work.

Round Rock starter Jose Capellan got a no-decision after allowing three runs in just three innings of work. Josh Muecke (6-8) earned the win for the Express by throwing three innings of one-run ball. Chad Paronto (20) earned the save, throwing a scoreless ninth inning.

Gillespie, Hester, Nunez and Allen all had two hits for the Aces, who pounded out 11 hits despite the loss. Gillespie and Nunez added 2 RBIs apiece as well.

Game three of this four-game set is set for Sunday evening. Reno sends RHP Billy Buckner (7-3, 3.29 ERA) to the bump to face Round Rock RHP Felipe Paulino (2-0, 2.20 ERA). First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m.
