$120,000 in jewelry missing in Sunridge

Douglas County sheriff's deputies were looking for a housekeeper in connection with the disappearance of $120,000 in jewelry from a home in Sunridge.

According to reports, the victim said he has purchased several expensive pieces of jewelry for his wife which he keeps at home. He told deputies he checks the collection once a month and discovered several pieces missing shortly before Thanksgiving.

The man told deputies the jewelry was there in October.

He told authorities he and his wife have employed a housekeeper for 11 years who occasionally brings another woman to help her.

The homeowner said he didn't believe the principal housekeeper would take the jewelry, but wanted deputies to question the part-time employer.

He said the suspect frequents Las Vegas and he believes the stolen jewelry may have been pawned there.

Douglas County Secret Witness is offering a $1,000 reward for information on the residential burglary. Anyone with information is asked to call Secret Witness at 782-7463 or 586-7295, or Investigator Ed Garren at 782-9908.
