Nevada football inks four mid-year transfers

RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada has signed four mid-year transfers who will join the program next month, head coach Chris Ault announced Wednesday. All four players are on the defensive side of the ball and will enroll in the spring semester in January and will be eligible to go through spring drills with the Wolf Pack.

The mid-year class consists of: defensive end Jared Jackson (Southwestern CC); defensive end Devon Rosa (Glendale CC); safety Chris "Bubba" Boudreaux (Palomar College) and linebacker DeAndre Boughton (Fresno City College).

"All of our mid-year transfers are defensive players who I expect to come in and compete immediately," Ault said.

Rosa starred for one season at Glendale Community College in Southern California. As a freshman transfer, he has three seasons of eligibility at Nevada. Jackson, another defensive lineman, was a two-year standout at Southwestern College in the San Diego area. He won the team's "Defensive Excellence" award this season at Southwestern, which is the same school that produced former Pack standout Mundrae Clifton.

"Rosa is a freshman transfer with the range and the speed that I like at defensive end," Ault said. "Jackson has the range and speed to be disruptive off the edge. He'll fit in well with our returners."

Boughton, a Fresno native who prepped at Edison High School, starred at Fresno City College for two seasons while Boudreaux is a Las Vegas native who starred at Centennial High School, led Palomar in tackles and pass breakups this season with 73 and 13, respectively.

"Boughton was the best junior college linebacker that we saw on tape this year. He plays physical and fast," Ault said. "Boudreaux is a physical safety who has good instincts."

The Nevada football team is coming off an 8-4 regular season which included a 7-1 (second-place) finish in the Western Athletic Conference. The Wolf Pack is finishing preparations for the Sheraton Hawai`i Bowl - the program's fifth-straight bowl appearance - and will leave for Honolulu on Friday.
