Some points to ponder

EDITOR:

Abraham Lincoln said, "You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time."

It is obvious to me that the current administration is making it so apparent even strident supporters need to take a second look. Why is it that they talk about there opposition as being like slave owners? Is it because their policies are going to enslave us, our children and our children's-children, and how many future generations? I have always found it interesting that what this administration accuses others of, they are the champions of.

When a person works hard and most of what he earns goes to someone else, that is slavery. When a person works hard and over half of what they earn goes to the state, that is slavery to the state. The deficit will enslave us all eventually. It is a fact that no one can deny. The middle class is disappearing by leaps and bounds.

Thomas Jefferson said this about good government, "[A] wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned.

"This is the sum of good government, and this is necessary to close the circle of our felicities."

Our government, at all levels, is getting further and further from this ideal.

Government can not provide for man, that which he should provide for himself. Emerson, Thoreau and other American authors made the point that America will become great because of individualism, not communalism. Take pride in yourself. Do for yourself and help others to do for themselves. Government is not the answer. Government is way too expensive, because it will enslave all of us.
