Christmas dining at Carson Valley Inn

The Carson Valley Inn in Minden celebrates Christmas with holiday specials in addition to regular menu items in Fiona's Bar and Grill and Katie's Country Kitchen.

Fiona's Bar and Grill offers its regular menu and Christmas dinner specials 4:30-9 p.m. Christmas Day. Specials include a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings and smoked buffalo prime rib. All Christmas specials and regular menu dinners include unlimited trips to Fiona's 70-plus item soup and salad bar with choices such as lager-steamed peel 'n' eat shrimp and king crab, an assortment of salads and fresh fruits, New England-style clam chowder and corn and cheddar cheese chowder, and squaw bread and butter. Fiona's Express Lunch will not be served on Christmas Day. Make reservations for Fiona's Bar and Grill at 783-6650.

Katie's Country Kitchen 24-hour full-service restaurant, offers two Christmas Day dinner specials 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Choose from slow-roasted turkey with bread and herb stuffing, giblet pan gravy and cranberry relish or stuffed fillet of sole with bay shrimp and crab meat. Katie's Christmas dinner specials include green beans with almonds, mashed potatoes or rice pilaf, choice of corn and cheddar chowder, clam chowder or navy bean soup or Katie's salad; breads with butter and dessert choice of pumpkin pie Chantilly or cranberry bread pudding.

The Carson Valley Inn is on Highway 395 in Minden, near Highway 88, 20 minutes from Lake Tahoe's south shore and 45 minutes south of Reno. The property includes a casino, hotel, motor lodge, RV park and three dining facilities. Information, www.cvinn.com
