Mono County announces drug arrests

A routine traffic stop for expired registration ended in the arrest of two people on multiple warrants and the seizure of 350 gift cards worth $31,000 and chemicals used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

According to Mono County Undersheriff Ralph Obenberger, a deputy pulled over Marianne Uribe, 49, of Richmond, Mich., on Highway 395 near Hot Creek Road on Tuesday. A background check on Uribe revealed she had three warrants for narcotics and traffic violations. Mono authorities could not confirm the identity of Uribe's passenger, who identified himself as Earl Steven Williams, 55, of Tempe, Ariz.

Both were taken to Bridgeport for booking, where it was learned from his fingerprints that Williams was Howard Dale Williams, who has a warrant for being a parolee at large. A plastic bag of methamphetamine was allegedly located in Uribe's bra.

Both are being held for possession of chemicals to manufacture meth, possession of narcotics, false identification to a peace officer.

Investigators are trying to determine if the gift cards were legitimately obtained.
