Tyne Katri Honkanen, 101, died at home Feb. 22, 2009. She was a resident of Gardnerville for 39 years.
Mrs. Honkanen was born to Isackii and Katri Makinen on Nov. 19, 1907, in Bovey, Minn. She married Eric Honkanen on March 14, 1927.
Mrs. Honkanen was preceded in death by son Rudy, husband Eric, four brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by son Norman (Marie) Honkanen of Bullhead City, Ariz., daughter Kathy Honkanen of Gardnerville, seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation was in care of FitzHenry's Funeral Home in Gardnerville.
A three-day family memorial to celebrate Mrs. Honkanen's life will be held in June when a tree will be planted in her memory.
