Trinity Lutheran inducts new deacon Sunday

Jonathan Cleveland, director of Christian education at Trinity Lutheran Church, will be inducted as a deacon during services at 8 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday.

Cleveland's deaconship was approved by the California-Nevada-Hawaii District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod because of his 20 years of experience in youth ministry and seminar training. Jonathan's new functions at Trinity include preaching in the services of the congregation, leading services, and public administration of the sacraments. As a deacon, he will preach and preside at Trinity's Sierra Spirit Praise Service at 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Cleveland retains his responsibilities as director of Christian education which include activities with Children's Chapel, Kids of the Kingdom, senior youth, confirmation student instruction, junior youth ministry and faith-building seminars for child care center teachers.

The public is invited to attend the induction services at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1480 Douglas Ave., Gardnerville. Information, 782-8153.
