The R-C Mornin' Report

It's April Fools Day, so one of the items in the Morning Report is going to be made up. See if you can guess which one.

Douglas County commissioners are being asked today to approve making a $271,000 payment eight months early to AIG Baker, the developer of the Carson Valley Plaza. The payment from redevelopment money isn't actually due until January 2011. At that time the payment would be $275,000. Payments are contingent on 6,000 square feet of occupancy in the mall which houses Best Buy and other stores. The item appears on commissioners' consent calendar at today's 1:45 p.m. meeting in Minden.

The Web site for Minden-Tahoe Airport, mindentahoeairport.com, has been flagged as an attack site and is blocked by several Web browsers security preferences. The advisory was issued by Google, which said that of 36 pages tested over the past 90 days, seven resulted in malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent.

It's National Count Day and Census workers clad as pirates are rappelling from black helicopters all over Carson Valley to dart, count and tag Douglas County residents. If you wake up lying face down on the floor and you see an eye patch lying on the floor a few feet away, then you've been tagged.

There's a slight chance we'll see snow showers today after 11 a.m. The high will hit about 47 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. The wind will be between 5-10 mph. A chance of showers will remain in the forecast through the weekend.

Come on, snow?

Nope, it's the Census taking pirates, yo ho.
