County commissioners approved a $45,000 contract with a Reno marketing firm to start an online social marketing program to recruit outdoor recreation and lifestyle manufacturers. The contract, with RKPR Inc. has an automatic renewal for $30,000 and would "implement a consistent program using Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, blogging, etc." and sell the county visually "with current and original video and photography and distributing through social strategies."
A high wind warning kicks off at noon today, bringing 25-35 mph winds with gusts of up to 65 mph. Strong downslope gusts of 60-70 mph will affect the foothills of Carson and Washoe valleys. As the front passes, the chance of rain increases. There's a 30 percent chance today and a 40 percent chance tonight.
After what looks like a fairly nice day on Saturday, the forecast calls for a strong snow storm on Sunday night with a chance for accumulations of 2-4 inches.
