Dog training classes offered at Carson Dog Sports

The grand opening of Carson Dog Sports professional dog training center is 9 a.m. May 8 at 5242 Highway 50 East, Carson City.

Classes taught by Portia Jelinek are beginning obedience, competitive obedience, beginning and advanced rally obedience. Rally classes begin 10:30 a.m. May 2. Beginning obedience begins 6:30 p.m. May 3.

"There has been a need for these types of obedience classes for a long time and I'm very proud to be an instructor at Carson Dog Sports," said Jelinek. "My training techniques are positive, and the classes are lots of fun for both the handlers and their dogs."

Jelinek formerly taught at Truckee Meadows Dog Training Club in Reno, and is a graduate of the Jack and Wendy Volhard: TopDog Training Camp in Virginia. Her performance background includes work with her Australian shepherds in obedience, rally, agility and conformation.
